RemoteDevelopers.com is a platform that connects software developers with employers. Developers get a professional portfolio powered by their GitHub activity, and employers get access to verified, searchable talent.
How It Works
Sign in with GitHub
One-click OAuth. No passwords, no forms. Your profile is created instantly from your GitHub data.
Your profile goes live
Skills, repos, and activity are synced. You get a public portfolio at remotedevelopers.com/d/username.
Get discovered
Employers find you through search, skill directories, and location filters. They reach out directly.

GitHub Sign-In
RemoteDevelopers uses GitHub OAuth for authentication. There's no password to create or remember — GitHub handles it all.
What happens when you sign in:
- Click Sign Up with GitHub on the registration page
- Authorize RemoteDevelopers on GitHub (read-only access)
- Your profile is created with your GitHub username, avatar, bio, and location
- GitHub sync begins automatically — importing repos, languages, and contributions
Your Profile
Your public profile lives at remotedevelopers.com/d/username and serves as your professional developer portfolio.
Editable fields:
- • Bio — A short description of who you are and what you do
- • Title — Your professional title (e.g., "Senior Full-Stack Engineer")
- • Location — City, state, and country for location-based search
- • Hourly rate — Min and max rate range (optional, visible to employers)
- • Availability — Available, Open to Offers, or Not Available
- • Social links — Website, LinkedIn, and X
Your profile photo comes from your GitHub avatar. To change it, update your avatar on GitHub and re-sync.
At-A-Glance
The at-a-glance section is an auto-generated summary that appears at the top of your public profile. It's created from your GitHub data during sync and gives employers a quick snapshot of your strengths.
What it shows:
- • Primary programming languages
- • Experience level and specializations
- • Activity patterns and contribution frequency
- • Notable repository and project highlights
This section updates automatically each time your GitHub data is synced. You don't need to edit it manually.
Skills & Verification
Add skills to your profile from a categorized directory covering languages, frameworks, tools, databases, cloud platforms, and more.

GitHub-verified badges:
When a skill you add matches a language detected in your GitHub repositories, it automatically gets a verified checkmark badge. This lets employers know the skill is backed by real code, not just a self-assessment.
Skills appear on your public profile and are used by the search engine to match you with employer queries.
Timeline
Your timeline is a chronological record of your work, achievements, and contributions. It appears on your public profile and shows employers what you've been working on.
Entry types:
Adding entries:
- • Manual — Add a title, description, URL, and date from your dashboard
- • Automatic — Repos and contributions are imported during GitHub sync
Screenshots:
When a timeline entry includes a URL, the platform automatically captures a screenshot and displays it as a visual thumbnail on your profile and dashboard.
- • Automatic — Screenshots are captured in the background when you add a URL
- • On-demand — Click the camera icon next to any entry on your dashboard timeline to retake a screenshot
- • Placeholder — Entries without a screenshot show a browser-window placeholder until one is captured
Featured Projects
Featured Projects is a visual portfolio carousel that lets you showcase your best work with screenshots, descriptions, and live links. It's accessible at /d/username/featured — perfect for sharing on resumes and LinkedIn.
How it works:
- • Navigate to Dashboard → Featured Projects to manage your portfolio
- • Upload a screenshot (max 5 MB), add a title, description, and optional project URL
- • Drag to reorder — the display order on your public page matches your arrangement
- • Up to 12 projects can be featured at a time
Public page:
Visitors see a full-screen carousel with arrow navigation, keyboard support, and dot indicators. Each slide shows the project screenshot, title, description, and a link to the live project.
GitHub Sync
GitHub sync imports your repositories, programming languages, contributions, and activity into your RemoteDevelopers profile.
What gets synced:
- • Public repositories (name, description, stars, language)
- • Programming languages across all repos
- • Contribution activity and patterns
- • Timeline entries created for notable repos
How to sync:
Your first sync happens automatically when you sign up. After that, you can trigger a re-sync anytime from the GitHub Sync page in your dashboard. The sync runs in the background and shows progress with a step-by-step percentage indicator.
Sync also verifies your skills against actual code found in your repositories.
Email Forwarding
Every developer gets a professional email address in the format [email protected].
How it works:
- • Emails sent to your @remotedevelopers.com address are forwarded to your personal email
- • Your real email address stays private — employers only see the @remotedevelopers.com address
- • Configure the forwarding destination in your Settings
- • Toggle forwarding on or off at any time
Email forwarding is powered by Mailgun and routes messages to your personal email in real-time.
Messages
When employers contact you through your profile, the message is delivered both as an email (via forwarding) and logged in your dashboard. You can view all contact requests and their details in one place.
Reply directly from your email client — the employer's email address is included in the forwarded message.
Privacy Controls
You have full control over what's visible on your public profile.
- • Timeline entries — Toggle each entry between public and private
- • Hourly rate — Optional, only shown if you choose to set it
- • Email — Your personal email is never shown; only the @remotedevelopers.com address is displayed
- • Blocked senders — Block specific email addresses from contacting you

Finding Developers
There are several ways to discover developers on the platform.
Search:
The search page lets you find developers by keyword, skill, or technology. Results can be filtered by availability status (Available, Open to Offers) and sorted by relevance, newest profiles, or hourly rate.
Browse by skill:
The skills directory lets you browse all skills on the platform and see developers who have each skill. Skills are organized by category: languages, frameworks, tools, databases, and cloud platforms.
Browse by location:
The location directory lets you browse developers by state or city. Useful when you need someone in a specific timezone or locale.
Developer Profiles
Each developer profile shows:
- • Bio, title, location, and availability status
- • At-a-glance summary generated from GitHub data
- • Skills with proficiency levels and GitHub-verified badges
- • Timeline of projects, contributions, and achievements
- • Hourly rate range (if the developer has set one)
- • Social links and @remotedevelopers.com email address
- • Contact form for reaching out directly
Contact Developers
Every developer profile has a contact form. Fill in your name, company, email, subject, and message, and the developer receives it via email forwarding and in their messages inbox.
Post a Job
Employers can create job listings to attract developer applicants.
Creating a job post:
- • Add a title, detailed description, and requirements
- • Set salary range and job type (full-time, part-time, contract)
- • Tag relevant skills so the right developers find it
- • Specify location requirements (remote, hybrid, on-site)
Publishing:
Job posting is free during launch. Simply click publish and your job goes live immediately. Regular pricing of $50/month will apply after the launch period.
After publishing:
- • Edit the job post at any time
- • Pause/unpause at any time
- • Jobs stay active until you close them
- • View applications from the employer dashboard
Manage Applications
When developers apply to your job posts, you can review and manage their applications from your employer dashboard.
- • View each applicant's profile, skills, and cover note
- • Accept, reject, or shortlist candidates
- • Track application history and status changes
- • Contact applicants directly through their profiles
Hiring
When you successfully hire a developer through the platform, you can record the hire in your dashboard. Placement fees are waived during launch.

MCP API
The MCP (Model Context Protocol) API provides REST endpoints designed for AI agents and tools to search the platform programmatically.

LLMs.txt
RemoteDevelopers serves a machine-readable llms.txt file that describes the platform's capabilities for AI crawlers and language models.
This follows the llms.txt standard and helps AI agents understand what the platform offers, which endpoints are available, and how to interact with the MCP API.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it really free for developers?
Yes, always. Developers can create a profile, sync GitHub, receive messages, apply to jobs, and use every feature at no cost. We make money from employers, not developers.
What GitHub data do you access?
Public profile information, public and private repositories (read-only), repository languages, and contribution activity. We access private repos only to verify skills against real language usage. We never write or modify anything on your GitHub account.
Can I hide my hourly rate?
Yes. The hourly rate field is completely optional. If you leave it blank, no rate information is shown on your profile.
How long do job posts stay active?
Job posts are active for 30 days from the date of publication. After that, they automatically expire. You can repost if needed.
Can I edit my job post after publishing?
Yes. You can edit the title, description, requirements, and other details of a published job at any time from your employer dashboard.
How does email forwarding work?
When someone sends an email to your [email protected] address, it's automatically routed to your personal email via Mailgun. Your personal email is never exposed.
Is my real email visible to employers?
No. Employers only see your @remotedevelopers.com address. Your personal email stays private.
How do I delete my account?
Contact us at the contact page and we'll process your account deletion.
